For the last couple years I really haven't made much progress on completing any quilting projects. I have really wanted to make some progress on my long standing WIPs. And for once I think I am going to be able to get my post up on time for this years Finish Along. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Aqua and Teal Bento Box Quilt - This one is a is from a flickr bee that I was in a way to many years ago. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Periwinkle Mini Quilt - made from left overs from an other mini quilt. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/21211208021/in/dateposted-public/" nbsp="" title="Was able to get the tiniest bit of mini quilt sewing in today... <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Patchwork Prism Quilt - Again a long standing WIP. This one is almost 4 years old. It is all cut up and just needs to be put together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Embroidery 101 Quilt Along - I only have one block left to finish. Who knows how many years I have been working on this one. Well it was whenever the quilt along started, but I really can't remember. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/9161046189/in/dateposted-public/" nbsp="" title="embroidery 101 block 6 finished"><img alt="embroidery 101 block 6 finished" height="320" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3738/9161046189_2cdc7d13cf_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5. Central Park - This is a finish top that just needs to be quilting. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/8098960788/in/dateposted-public/" nbsp="" title="Geese in the Park finished top"><img alt="Geese in the Park finished top" height="212" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8056/8098960788_1f0e25a684_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
6. SacMQG Bee Mini Quilt - I asked for a cute little paper pieced wonky log cabin block and I just need to put them together. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/5833298543/in/dateposted-public/" nbsp="" title="praire claw-5.jpg"><img alt="praire claw-5.jpg" height="212" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5038/5833298543_a58a15e36e_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7. Miss Kate Piece of Cake Craftsy Quilt - I bought this layer cake just so I could actually make a craftsy class quilt and I still haven't done it yet. I think I have had this layer cake for 9 months or so.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/5833298543/in/dateposted-public/" nbsp="" title="praire claw-5.jpg"><img alt="praire claw-5.jpg" height="212" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5038/5833298543_a58a15e36e_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
8. Leaders and Enders Quilt. I have been making these blocks with my leaders and enders. I want to finish up this quilt and donated it to a charity though my quilt guild. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/5833298543/in/dateposted-public/" nbsp="" title="praire claw-5.jpg"><img alt="praire claw-5.jpg" height="212" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5038/5833298543_a58a15e36e_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
9. Priare Claw Quilt - This is another quilt that I took a class on from an author and I still haven't finished it. I only took the class in June 2011. I think it may have aged enough to quilt it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/5833298543/in/dateposted-public/" nbsp="" title="praire claw-5.jpg"><img alt="praire claw-5.jpg" height="212" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5038/5833298543_a58a15e36e_n.jpg" width="320" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Ok I am going to call that good to go. I think under 10 is a good amount of choice. I can hope to finish them all but truly I will be happy to finish one by the end of the quarter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

I hope you are having a fantastic holiday season!<br />

<br />Jenniffierhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15916072186283838614noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4790833517830685055.post-27970168414915439422015-11-21T14:25:00.001-08:002015-11-21T14:25:29.411-08:00And then I don'tToday I attended the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild meeting. I really wanted to be able to share during show and tell. However, I sadly have not really been quilting. So I pulled a quilt I haven't share off with them off my mini quilt wall and the mini quilt I use as a placemat at lunch. Both adorable scrap quilts... but seriously that is I have.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ALNufV6PYng/VlDurjF6NII/AAAAAAAAFlM/o4f9v3923tU/s1600/MiniQuiltWall.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ALNufV6PYng/VlDurjF6NII/AAAAAAAAFlM/o4f9v3923tU/s320/MiniQuiltWall.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I couldn't actually tell the last time I sat down at my sewing machine, or even went in my sewing room for anything other than dropping junk that I didn't know what else to do.<br />
<br />
I keep thinking to myself... I am going to sew tonight. And then I don't.<br />
<br />
Then I tell myself tomorrow..tomorrow I am going to sew. And then I don't.<br />
<br />
So then I start bargaining with myself... Well if I can just get ___ done then I can have time to sew. And then I don't.<br />
<br />
When I reflect back all I have done is avoided doing something that makes me happy. Something that relieves stress (which I have)... something that helps me focus (which I haven't been). Something that allows me to be creative. So what is the problem??? Why can't I seem to find my sewing mojo???<br />
<br />
Not to say I haven't sewn at all these past few months. I did get kind of sucked into the instagram mini quilt swap mania.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: right;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9QImlbxVdW0/VlDsCZJhtnI/AAAAAAAAFlA/EtC4Cht8Qis/s1600/PicMonkey%2BCollage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="128" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9QImlbxVdW0/VlDsCZJhtnI/AAAAAAAAFlA/EtC4Cht8Qis/s640/PicMonkey%2BCollage.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script><br />
<br />
But even for all of these mini quilts that I made, I have felt like I was forcing myself to sew. Oh yeah and of course these mini quilts were my other excuse for not sewing...<br />
<br />
I will just finish this mini quilt and start on my projects. And then I didn't.<br />
<br />
So what should I do to get my sewjo back? I am hoping that putting this out there, that maybe just maybe I might be able to use my thanksgiving break to find my sewjo again. What do you all think? Any tips for me to get out of this block?<br />

Ok more like I have been playing on instagram a lot. It has been totally inspirational. I can easily scan the photos whenever I have a few moments. I also discovered swaps and I may have joined 4. Each one was fabric designer specific so of course I had to do some collecting.<br />
All of these have been added to my stash in the last couple months... As I obviously forgot about blogging :)<br />
<br />
First I joined the cotton and steel mini swap. It was the first that I joined and I may have went a bit over board on collecting fabric.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16319080068" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="500" id="blogsy-1428211082175.1372" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7286/16319080068_ef77c84f14.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16758900831" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="500" id="blogsy-1428211082253.9495" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7635/16758900831_40fe04c0d6.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next came the Lizzy House Mini swap fabrics:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16722771789" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="500" id="blogsy-1428211082198.9478" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8738/16722771789_4133f1aeab.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16948930752" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="500" id="blogsy-1428211082255.9849" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8707/16948930752_1c2fe8ec5c.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then Anna Maria Horner Mini swap and picked up these plus one more print for the cotton and steel mini:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16932436355" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="500" id="blogsy-1428211082264.3367" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7608/16932436355_ee099960d2.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Last but not least I joined the inside voices club from <a href="http://www.westwoodacresfabric.com/pages/inside-voices-monthly-club" target="_blank" title="">Westwood Acres fabric</a>. They had a spot open up and I really like low volume but never buy it when I buy fabric so I thought it was a good choice for me.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16859455312" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="" class="aligncenter" height="500" id="blogsy-1428211082214.4456" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7649/16859455312_c91c06e165.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
I am hoping to cut back on my fabric buying spree. This is a little extreme...Even for me. I am guessing I am making up for taking a year away from quilt related activities. Yeah that sounds like a good excuse!<br />

<p> I was lucky enough to have a break last week, which means I actually had time to make progress on a few things. </p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16583084435" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8633/16583084435_c4dfd53578.jpg" id="blogsy-1424928971644.3767" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div>
<p> <span style="line-height: 1.3em; text-align: right;">The first thing I tackled was just reorganizing my sewing room. My darling husband took me to Ikea to buy a shelving unit and he even put it together for me. I moved things around and started organizing my stash onto magazine boards... I will tell you more about that later when I am actually done.</span></p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16419648289" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8570/16419648289_0925f0913b.jpg" id="blogsy-1424928971670.014" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div>
<p> </p>
<p>I also had time to work on cutting out the background fabric and starting the sewing on my adorn quilt. Didn't quite finish the top during the break, but I took some time to finish it tonight. This is the second month that I have actually finished my a lovely year of finishes goal. That is pretty exciting to me.</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/16624487266" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8598/16624487266_284e717d47.jpg" id="blogsy-1424928971620.8445" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div>
<p> </p>
<p> I was hoping to maybe get it quilted with my break, but instead I decided to work on my sewing room. I think that was a great choice. I feel like it has really helped me get some of my sewing mojo back as I am much happier in my space now. Can't wait to finish and to share the new room set up with you.</p>
<p> </p>

Luckily a few of us from the Sacramento MQG decided to start our own little bee.<br />
<br />
We had three queen bees this month. They each picked something so different.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/16369937619" title="SacMQG Feb Bee Blocks by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="SacMQG Feb Bee Blocks" height="500" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7288/16369937619_053db1dc48.jpg" width="167" /></a></div>
<br />
I felt like this was a great way to get back into creating a little every couple days. I also feel like it maybe helping me get my sewing mojo back.<br />

<br />
It was odd little bit of a coincident but, our SacMQG topic of discussion was fabric storage and scrap storage. I shared my scrap storage system. I really like this system because it is easy to pull the colors that you want. Plus it is pretty :).<br />

I was going to make it finish my bee blocks for the SacMQG bee. However, since I have already finished two out of the three I decided to go with a loftier goal.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/16440851126" title="sacMQG bee Blocks by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="sacMQG bee Blocks" height="250" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7292/16440851126_9ac233729b.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I decided that I would like to finish one of my current work in progress boxes. I am looking forward to at least finishing my quilt top of my adorn mini from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CG2EE3E/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00CG2EE3E&linkCode=as2&tag=tarplu-20&linkId=XI455KRKRB4BHBGY">Simply Retro with Camille Roskelley</a><img alt="" border="0" src="http://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=tarplu-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B00CG2EE3E" height="1" style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" width="1" />. I still need to cut the triangles and of course sew it all together. I may even get it quilted.... but that might be a long stretch to even try to set as a goal.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/16279102358" title="I almost forgot to post my a lovely year of finishes this month. <br />
I may have picked the easiest one, but it still maybe hard for me to tackle. I mean I am still just getting back into this whole quilting thing.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/16228380920" title="I have officially conquered...I mean completed the wedding quilt top for @nixietink... <br />
I have been working on my sister-in-laws wedding quilt for too long. Like since before their wedding in 2013. So I decided the top would have to be finished this month.<br />
<br />
I spent the month putting blocks together and then after three borders (and by the way I hate borders, the cutting the attaching just everything about them except they way to end up looking) this quilt top was finished at almost 10 PM on Jan 31, 2015. Just barely making it with 2 hours to spare.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/16220158269" title="Surely I must have mentioned this before, bit I hate borders. 1 down 2 to go... by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Surely I must have mentioned this before, bit I hate borders. 1 down 2 to go..." height="500" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7355/16220158269_c54dc1543b.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
This pattern is Kiss Me by Fig Tree. My sis-in-laws wedding colors were grey and yellow. We picked the fabric out online together. It is turning out to be an amazing looking quilt. Can't wait to see it finished. Luckily I am sending this one out.<br />

<p>Happy New Years Eve! It is the end of the year and time to reflect. This year has been a crazy one for me. I did not complete any of my sewing to do list. However, I did complete an educational administive program and I did get a new job. I guess that means I true can't say I didn't accomplish much in 2014</p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/15987492562" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7489/15987492562_52ea691914.jpg" id="blogsy-1420046703436.8513" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="331"></a></div>
<p> </p>
<p>My final Work in Progress for 2014 is my sister-in-laws wedding quilt. It is already to be seen together and sent out to a Quilter. Does anyone have some good suggestions for a custom long arm Quilter? Since I don't want any quilting in the signature boxes, I can't just do any all over design. Suggestions would be appreciated. </p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/15971479237" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7524/15971479237_d7045d311a.jpg" id="blogsy-1420046703411.6143" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div>
<p>I am also working on a cute little embroidery design, but I can't share to much or it will give away the surprise. </p>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/31559063@N06/15969594318" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7462/15969594318_84be47eed0.jpg" id="blogsy-1420046703414.857" class="aligncenter" alt="" width="500" height="500"></a></div>
<p>I also had one last fabric splurge for 2014. We went to a couple fabric shops during our visit to TX and I found a shop I adore in Dripping Springs called <a href="http://www.valliandkim.com" target="_blank" title="">Valli and Kim</a>. They had so many pretties including a whole bunch of Anne Marie Horner prints. There was so much I wanted to get, but these are what made the cut.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Happy New Year!</p>

Hey, but at least I touched my sewing machine again and I even put together a little something.<br />
<br />
I should be working on my sister-in-laws wedding quilt.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/15987492562" title="Nikki and Pauls Quilt WIP by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Nikki and Pauls Quilt WIP" height="397" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7489/15987492562_52ea691914_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
However, instead I made myself this cute little scraptastic placemat. It is just a top right now, but that is a great start for two days.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/15365914454" title="Scraptastic placemat top by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Scraptastic placemat top" height="397" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7493/15365914454_5da5d47d3c_z.jpg" width="600" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Good thing too. I was too worried to touch her quilt because it had been so long and I was worried about my 1/4 inch. I was right about that. It took two days of sewing to even get to something that is some what acceptable. Luckily this was a low value piece and it was really just for practice.<br />
<br />

I am still working on finding my "<a href="http://jenniffier.blogspot.com/2014/06/spin-cycle.html">new normal</a>". However, I have a feeling the quilting bug may have gotten me again.<br />
<br />

<br />
Technically, I still haven't sat down at my machine, but I did start buying fabric and patterns again. And isn't that the way it started in the first place.<br />
<br />
See pretty fabric... buy fabric... oh I could so make that... buy pattern... look at more fabric and patterns...Touch pretty fabric and patterns... Imagine doing something with the supplies...Then maybe make something with your new pretties...<br />
<br />

I truly felt like I just had to have Moda Modern Building Blocks. And of course since I had a gift certificate <u>and</u> there was a sale I couldn't justify not buying some fabric. So, I purchased the Cotton and Steel Basics bundle too. When everything came it, I was so glad it was just as pretty as I imagined.<br />

BTW I am feeling like I need to get back into this blogging thing. Blogging seemed to help me journal my creative thoughts... which in turned helped me create. I am so excited to get back at it. I have even started reading blogs again realized Instagram has become huge in this online quilting community. I have been so inspired, once again, by reading all your blogs, instagram posts and such out there. I have even been commenting again instead of just thinking cute. So let's see how this goes.<br />

<br />
However, we just finished with the school year the kiddos last Thursday. Not only did I say my goodbyes to my darlings, I also had to say my goodbyes to my Woodridge Family.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14408598512" title="Today was my last day as a classroom teach at Woodridge Elementary School. <br />
Since the 4th graders leave Woodridge to go to middle school, we have a secret dress up week to say good-bye. I didn't get a picture of us on art day, but here are some good ones from the rest of the week.<br />
<br />
Super hero day - And yes were were one super team of teachers (if we don't say so ourselves).<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14452343913" title="Super Hero day by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Super Hero day" height="500" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3851/14452343913_05e1ddde51.jpg" width="375" /></a></div>
<br />
The funny thing is that so wasn't planned. Great minds do think alike!<br />
<br />
Totally 80s day - rocking the side pony brought back memories of my previous life as a Valley Girl.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14216342339" title="Oh my god! My oh so awesome forth grade team so like rocked the 80's today! by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Oh my god! <br />
I just have to say that I am so like glad I like got to teach with this like totally awesome team! (See Valley Girl, I grew up in the Valley during the 80s and may or may not talked that way. And no I am not sharing pictures!)<br />
<br />
Our last day was Hawaiian day. Which is very appropriate for saying Aloha to our students. Each student got a lei and a Wildcat for Life certificate.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14409008636" title="Hawaiian dayjpg by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Hawaiian dayjpg" height="500" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3861/14409008636_d901f9c9cf.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I will miss my team and the rest of the Woodrid<span style="font-family: inherit;">ge family. <span style="background-color: white; color: #37404e; line-height: 20px;">T</span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 20px;">heir support, friendship, and collegiality have meant the world to me. It has been a great 5 years. </span></span><br />
<br />
It is on to a new adventure for me. Next year, I will be a teacher on special assignment as a instructional support teacher with the district. I am not sure what schools I will be working yet, but I am excited to make a difference in a new way.<br />
<br />
Less than a week until I have my final presentation and graduate from my administrative program. We had our rehearsal yesterday and I received some great feed back. Although, I now have some work to do on my presentation, I am hoping to get some sewing time in tomorrow. We will see about that.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14300843692" title="My students know I have been feeling a little blue recently. <div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
So much change in so little time, and it is all happening at once. Luckily it is a mixture of good and bad.<br />
<br />
Let's just get it all out there and start with the biggest change. My father passed away on May 15th. He wasn't in the best of health, but it wasn't expected either. He went peacefully in his sleep. He is missed very much. However, I am trying to look at it as a blessing in disguise. Knowing that he didn't have to suffer this and and that it must have been his time, help a little bit. I am dealing with this the best I can and as my mom has put it "(I am) learning how to live with our new normal."<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14395097253" title="Dad by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Dad" height="331" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3860/14395097253_def1bbd9ab.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
This wasn't the only death we dealt with this last little bit. My husband's grandfather also passed away at the end of April. His health was declining (as it does as we age) and he caught an infection that he just couldn't fight off. We got to say our goodbye at the hospital. He too is missed very much by all of us.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14373987054" title="Gramps by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Gramps" height="500" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3857/14373987054_e7b5b0d56e.jpg" width="331" /></a></div>
<br />
Both of these men were very influential in my life and taught me a lot about love, hard work, trust, honesty and working towards success and happiness. I know they were both so proud of my accomplishments and who I have so far grown up to become. My dad was all there for me, supporting me and loving me especially whenever I needed that push to become the better me. Gramps filled the void of never known my own grandfathers and always treated me like his own grand kid. I am so glad and lucky that I got to have these people in my life. Although, they may not be with us any longer, what they have taught and share with all the loved will not be forgotten.<br />
<br />
However, even with all this going on I do have some celebrations. I am almost done with my Administrative credential. In the last few days, I have written 3 papers and completed 2 field works, plus attended my last class. I have 2 finial papers left (one is make up for the time I missed in the last couple months), a final project and a presentation to go. Then I am done and graduate on June 21st.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14351881256" title="Leadership Insitute Corsework by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Leadership Insitute Corsework" height="331" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3921/14351881256_9bb8dea6c4.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
School is also almost out. It has been a great year with my bunch of fourth graders. They have grown so much and I am so proud of them. This year I also had a student teacher, it was great to watch him grow and develop his teaching skills. He made a great impact on my students and I am sure he will make a huge impact on all the students he has in the future.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://woodridge.twinriversusd.org/uimg/image/1235051653920/1243758459392/1320735879841_w230.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://woodridge.twinriversusd.org/uimg/image/1235051653920/1243758459392/1320735879841_w230.jpg" height="188" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
These will be my few last days at my school site. While in LA on bereavement leave I got a call for an interview for an instructional specialist position. I was still in shock when I got the phone call (it was the day after my father's passing) and I almost didn't take the interview. However, after I thought about it a little more I realized how disappointed my father would have been in my for at least not trying. We made a quick trip back to Sacramento from LA and then back down, but it was well worth it. I am so excited about my new position. I know that I really enjoy working with adults to ensure the success of our students and the position will allow me to do that. The role isn't clearly defined yet, but I think it will be an amazing adventure and a great experience.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Now on top the funny yet some what annoy part of this whole spin cycle analogy. When I came back up from to have my interview, I started doing laundry as we had already been in LA from almost a week. Well, that is when my washing machine decide to call it quits. The spin cycle broke and we purchased a new set of washer and dryer.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/14395134523" title="New washer and dryer by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="New washer and dryer" height="331" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3869/14395134523_6f421fa02e.jpg" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I have to tell you they are all pretty and new. However, they are different, just like my life, and this is going to take some getting use to.<br />

Of course that is in addition to my <a href="http://jenniffier.blogspot.com/2014/01/2014-goals.html">2014 goals</a>. Well or many in conjunction with.<br />
<br />
<center>
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19.796875px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://fiberofallsorts.blogspot.com/p/2014-lovely-year-of-finishes.html" title="A Lovely Year of Finishes"> <img alt="A Lovely Year of Finishes" src="http://blog.sewbittersweetdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/image002.jpg" height="180" style="border: none;" width="180" /></a></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #666666; font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19.796875px; text-align: center;"><br /></span> </center>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I am hoping this time around to make my goals a little more manageable. So this year I am going to set one goal each month and it maybe a big as finishing a quilt top, or quilting a quilt. However, most likely this year will be filled with little accomplishments, like cutting out a quilt, or sewing the blocks together.<br />
<br />
I have a busy year ahead and don't want to overwhelm myself. However, I don't want to forget to be creative. So little accomplishments will have to do. Little things that I can actually finish. Things that will help me make progress towards my bigger goals.<br />
<br />
This month I want to finish the borders for my sister-in-law's yellow and grey wedding quilt. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/8533520572/" title="Wedding quilt progress by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="Wedding quilt progress" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8252/8533520572_8536482025_z.jpg" height="450" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
They used the blocks as signature blocks for their guest book.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/9139131395/" title="Nicole and Paul's Wedding quilt/guest book table by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="Nicole and Paul's Wedding quilt/guest book table" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3786/9139131395_c1917ec78f_z.jpg" height="397" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
This quilt has three borders. Yes three. Two normal borders and one saw tooth border.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11768373954/" title="flying geese for yellow and grey quilt by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="flying geese for yellow and grey quilt" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2828/11768373954_2a770a220f_z.jpg" height="397" width="600" /></a></div>
<br />
On the first day of the year I started the flying geese and finished them yesterday. That was 60 - 2 1/2 by 4 1/2 - flying geese my friends. These were not made the magic flying geese method or another fancy way. And I have to say I think I like it better. So yes, that was 120 little squares sewed on to 60 rectangles. It was quite a project.<br />
<br />
Now I just have to make them into 4 string of 15 flying geese each to make the borders. Plus cut out and sew the other two borders. And that will be my goal for this month. If I move on to sewing the blocks together than that will be great, but I really really just want to finish the borders.<br />
<br />
How about everyone else? Do you have any goals for this month? Are they ambitious or small? Just wondering how everyone else is feeling about this year. </div>

Or at least for me an update on my current goals.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Since <a href="http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21129">Pantone's color of the year</a> just happens to be my all time favorite color ever, I decided that this year I would write my goals in shades purple :).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Many of these goals are the same as last year, some are more specific than last year, and some are ones I worked on in the past. I am looking forward to a very productive year with lots of accomplishments, change, and moving forward. My wish is for everyone to have a great year of happiness and love. </div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11662290976/" title="Good-bye 2013 by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="Good-bye 2013" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3692/11662290976_43ee50b38d_n.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This year has been my least creative since I have started this blog. Mostly because I ended up taking a few months off from creating.<br />
<br />
Going back into the classroom took more out of me then I would have thought it could have. It used up much of my creative energy (well most of my energy in general) It is so strange what one year off can do. It was like I was out of the flow of teaching. However, I am feeling much more confident again. So much so that I decided to take on a student teacher starting in the new year.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/9472395711/" title="Getting my workout with the teacher's version of a stair master. And yes my ABC line was two sections to short of fitting, so I am redoing that! by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="Getting my workout with the teacher's version of a stair master. And yes my ABC line was two sections to short of fitting, so I am redoing that!" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7400/9472395711_61cbb11412.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
That was one factor in the break, the other is that I started an administrative program. I am loving the program, but it does take up every other Saturday. Which was often my catch up on projects times. Saturday mornings were a great time for quilting/sewing for me because my husband plays hockey the night before and always sleeps in. The admin program being on Saturday also means I can not attend the Sacramento Modern Quilt guild meetings. I guess I didn't realize how much they inspired me to finish my projects.<br />
<br />
So without further ado here is what I have accomplished this year.<br />
<br />
First up Quilting:<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11661449774/" title="Quilting 2013 by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="Quilting 2013" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3688/11661449774_f265eb774b.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
And a little bit (very very little bit) of <a href="http://jenniffier.blogspot.com/p/completed-sewing-projects.html">sewing</a> too:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11661638023/" title="Sewing 2013 by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="Sewing 2013" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3763/11661638023_26ee20874e.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
When I look at my UFOs for last year you can see I barely made a dent.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11661799913/" title="Projects 2013-finished noted by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="Projects 2013-finished noted" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3777/11661799913_0f6f71703c.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
And my un-started projects... lets not even go there.<br />
<br />
However, I did have some awesome things happen this year. We went to Hawaii to watch my sister-in-law get married and made a vacation out of it. I figured out that I wanted to go in to school administration and got into an amazing program. My dad had a quadruple bypass and is recovering well. I went to Texas to visit my nephew, brother and sis-in-law. Learned some new makeup and hair techniques. My husband got he position/promotion that he wanted at his work. Spent lots of time with family. Realized I was allergic to gluten and by not eating all my health problems magically faded away. Best of all my husband and I celebrated our 5 year of marriage/ 12 year together anniversary.<br />
<br />
Even with all the ups and downs, 2013 has turned out to be a rather good year. I am looking forward to 2014 being even better.<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11639197535/" title="High Five for Jaden by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="High Five for Jaden" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2846/11639197535_b0b41741c0.jpg" height="331" width="500" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This is a very special quilt that I made for a friend's/co-worker's son who had a terrible accident. Her son, Jaden, had a bookcase fall on him and he was in a coma for a little while. Then when he woke up they were not sure if he would ever be the same. Thank goodness he is recovering so well and is very much back to being a normal 5 year old little boy. Much more than they had ever expected.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11639975736/" title="High Five for Jaden by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="High Five for Jaden" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3722/11639975736_cd5ac81b53.jpg" height="331" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
It just happened that this accident happened right before my month for the Sunday Morning Quilt bee. I used the opportunity to request high five blocks from the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1607054272/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1607054272&linkCode=as2&tag=jennifs-20">Sunday Morning Quilts</a> book in boy colors. One of the ladies suggested fussy cutting boy type things for the centers.<br />
<br />
I have to say this quilt turned out to one of the most unique quilts I have ever put together. All the dinosaurs, trains, superman, cats, fish, rockets, and you name it made this quilt amazing. The ladies all did such a great job and I couldn't have put this quilt together with out their help and there is no way it would have been so varied and scrappy if I had just used my own stash.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11639452573/" title="High Five for Jaden by Jenniffier, on Flickr"><img alt="High Five for Jaden" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3718/11639452573_b70e597038.jpg" height="331" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
However, the best feeling was giving the quilt to Amber. I have known/worked with Amber since my first year teaching (her second year). We both started same school site and years later ended up at a different site together again. She is a great person and I am so glad that I could give this special gift to her and her family. I know Jaden will enjoy this quilt and I am glad I was able to get it to him before Christmas.</div>

I made a lot of progress on my high five quilt this week. I took it from a quilt top to a quilted quilt all in one afternoon. Which is quite an accomplishment seeing as this thing is 54" X 90".<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/" title="Untitled by , on Flickr"><img alt="Untitled" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3681/11395562123_64ed38dca7.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
We had a bit of a wrestling match on my little janome, but in the end I conquered this lovely quilt.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/" title="Untitled by , on Flickr"><img alt="High Five Top" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7295/11397553746_3662e86be5.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
I even started binding yesterday. I am hoping to finish today and get it to its new owner tomorrow, but we will see how that goes.<br />
<br />
All I know is the more I work with it the more enjoyment I get out of all the prints that are included in it. I am so glad that I had my Sunday Morning Bee mates help me out in making these blocks. There is so much variety and I a really enjoy that.<br />

I have been making a lot of progress on my High Five quilt.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11319604563" title="Just finished my high five #quilt top. Thanks to my Sunday Morning Quilt bee mates who made all the blocks. by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="Just finished my high five #quilt top. Thanks to my Sunday Morning Quilt bee mates who made all the blocks." src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3823/11319604563_d59e61aa0d.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
This quilt is made by the help of my Sunday Morning Quilts bee. In the bee we used the patterns from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008AYKP7Q/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B008AYKP7Q&linkCode=as2&tag=jennifs-20">Sunday Morning Quilts Book</a><img alt="" border="0" src="http://ir-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/ir?t=jennifs-20&l=as2&o=1&a=B008AYKP7Q" height="1" style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" width="1" />. I picked high five for mine and I am loving the way it turned out. I can't wait to get it quilted. I am thinking loop-de-loos.<br />
<br />
In other notes, it is official I am a reading glasses kind of gal. It has always been a you don't need them but it would help kind of thing but you can get them if you want them. Well since reading my teaching manuals and articles for my class was getting to be difficult, I decided to get them.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11317932255" title="It is official I finally got reading glasses. It has always been a you don't need them but they would help kind of thing. However reading my teacher's manuals was becoming an issue so I caved. It is amazing how much easier it is to read when the words are by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="It is official I finally got reading glasses. It has always been a you don't need them but they would help kind of thing. However reading my teacher's manuals was becoming an issue so I caved. <br />
An added bonus is that a quarter inch is huge now, which means my seams are matching up so much easier.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jenniffier/11319604343" title="See the reading glasses did help. by Jenniffier Kramer, on Flickr"><img alt="See the reading glasses did help." src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2889/11319604343_8e2f480a58.jpg" height="500" width="500" /></a></div>
<br />
Such pretty seams and the best part is that most of them for the whole quilt top ended up that way. Which is kind of hard when you are putting together blocks made from lots of people, because we all know each machine and each person has their own quarter inch.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
