This is one of my favorite time of year on the blog front. There are always so many beautiful quilts that pop up during the blogger's quilt festival hosted by Amy at Amy's Creative Side.
This time around I am going to feature my orange and blue quilt that I made last Fall.
Recently, this quilt has been my favorite one to cuddle up under. Plus I just got it back a couple months ago. This was also the first commissioned quilt I ever made. It hung up in a local quilt store for about 6 months. So it is kinda new to me too. It is just the perfect size to lay on the couch and watch tv and it is just heavy enough to work as a summer quilt.
This was also a really fun quilt to make. I played with value this quilt and did not use a fabric line at all. A lot of the fabric was from my stash.
This quilt makes me very happy. It was pretty easy to make. It would have been even easier to make had I been using charm squares and a honey bun as the pattern called for instead of cutting all those pieces. Actually I have like the quilts I have tried from Simplify with Camille Roskelley: Quilts for the Modern Home. Sometimes I feel like I am making my way slowly though that book.
I am very glad that I made it and that I got to keep it for myself. Its bright colors always make me happy.

Oh and that back makes me really happy too. Actually, I don't know why, but I almost always have the back up when I lay with it. So I get to see the back most often. I do that with other quilts too. It is just an odd habit I have.

This is also a special quilt to me because I when I made it I also made my first tutorial. That tutorial was on fusible batting. I have only done one more tutorial, but at some point I hope to do more.
Thanks for stopping by to check out my quilt. I can't wait to go see all the other quilts too :). The few I have see thus far have been amazing.

I really think you did a great job mixing up the fabrics and balancing out the color combination. Nice use of a few large scales to give the overall quilt some impact. Well done. Check out my entry for the festival. It's my first time.
