My Pretty Little Jewelery Pouch

I just put together this pretty little jewelry pouch. It actually wasn't very difficult. I just followed the free tutorial  from the Art Gallery website. It took me a few hours with stops in between for: dinner, computer, four phone calls, feeding the dogs, and spending some time with my husband.

Pretty little Jewelry Pouch

The fabrics I choose all came from my stash. I don't know about you, but I have the hardest time cutting into my fabric unless I had bought it for a specific purpose.

Pretty little Jewelry Pouch inside

Anyhow, I don't remember the designer of the outside print, but it has cute little birdies on it. The next fabric in is Kate Spain Good Fortune. Then some light gray Kona and a print from Jay McCorroll Habitat line. I think it turned out super cute. Now I just need lots of jewelry to fill it.

I was inspired to make the pouch by the Happy Little Bag Hop and the link up they have going on over on flickr. I will be adding mine to this weeks completed pouches.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I actually have a finish this week.

Christmas Stocking for hopeful threads

I finished and mailed the Christmas stocking that I made for

stocking button

I am also making progress on the commissioned zig zagged quilt. I should really look at the name of the actually pattern. Anyhow, I have all the pieces cut the 1/2 the flying geese done for the large zig zags and hopefully I will be starting the small flying geese soon.

work in progress zig zagged quilt

I also have a whole bunch of 4 patches made up from my leaders and enders project. I just cut up a whole bunch of 2 1/2 inch squares form my scrap bin and sewed them into two together. Then I sewed those into 4 patches. Now I am going to sew 4 or those together to make 16 patches.

4 patch leaders and enders in progress

The best part of all this is that I made that whole stack in between projects by starting each project with one and then before I cut the thread on what ever I was chain piecing I sewed another together. I got the idea from Bonnie Hunter's Leaders and Enders and from a couple other blogs. The funny thing is I bet I will have this quilt top done before I have my current project done.

And then it was 11:16 pm

Today was a day that just got away from me. Work today was good, but each time I looked up from my work it was a couple hours later and I still had accomplished the tasks I was trying to do. I almost forgot to eat lunch for goodness sake. It was just one of those days.

So I had this fantastic plan to come home and change. Check my email. Put the turkey chili on the stove. Go into my sewing room and make some more flying geese and a pretty little pouch.

That so did not happen. First off I forgot about a meeting my husband had scheduled. Then we had to go eat dinner because we finished at 7pm. Then feed the dogs at 8ish... Then oh yeah I had to finish my plans for my ilearn professional development that I am teaching tomorrow. Hmm think about getting ready for bed, get distracted by my husband about 10:30pm. Search for a cybermonday deal for the keyboard he just spilled his drink it. And then it 11:16 pm and I just realized I did not get to do the one thing I really wanted to do tonight. Ohs wells. Good night all. It is now 11:26 pm and I have to get up in about 6 hour. Maybe tomorrow won't be a day where time just flies away, but let's not hope for a day that drags on and on and on, which I have a feeling it might be because I am teaching the professional development until 6pm which means I get home 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours later than normal.

MyMemories Software Sponsered Giveaway

UPDATE:  The giveaways is over and the winner has been announced.

Wow we did it. I have now posted over 300 times and I have over 300 followers on Google Friends Connect. Thanks so much for those who are long time followers and all the new ones too. In addition to yesterday's fabric giveaway post I wanted to celebrate by hosting a MyMemories Software giveaway.

MyMemories was developed as scrapbook software to you to create digital scrapbook pages. However, there is so much more you can do with it. I have the MyMemories software for a little over a year now and each time I have used it I have got sucked into creating things with my pictures. The next thing I know it has been a couple hours and I don't know where the time has gone, but only because I am enjoying playing with the software and we all know how easily I lose track of time when I am focused on creating something.

Now I am not a scrapbook type person, but this software is actually really quick and easy to use. Unless of course like me you spend an hour looking for the perfect background paper on However, my favorite part about the software is once you decided on your background all you have to do is pick a photo lay out and click to insert your pictures. Well, that and of course that with a click of a button you can change that background again and again. Now, we all see why projects take me so long.

Previously I use the software to make document my quilt making, to design a quilt block and to make Thanksgiving video that I sent out to everyone after the event as a thank you for them all coming. I really like the way my quilt block design turned out and how close it was to what I actually make.

First 4x5 Bee Block Design

4 x 5 Modern Bee Blocks

This year I made my happy thanksgiving graphic and  I am working on a new video for our family from New York that came out to California for my husband's sister's wedding. Randall (the husband) and I got to spend the day before the wedding with his New York family. We took them on a Northern California tour. We went to Bodega Bay and to Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve. So in one day they got to see the beach and the Redwoods. It was a lot of fun.

Here are two pages of our Redwood adventure that I have made so far. I ended up not using any of the backgrounds I had original looked at and instead use pictures that I had taken in the forest as a background for the pages. I think that gives a kind of neat effect.

Then as I said, I just picked a lay out for and added the pictures that I liked the best. Now all I have to do is make a few more pages and in the software there is a button for making a movie. I will just follow the prompts and use the software to add some music. Then I will have a great video to share with our family.

Doesn't the software sound like fun. Now although I like the videos best there are other things you can create too. Recently MyMemories has been sharing how to use the program for craftable items such as these:

Aren't those fun. They are a free download from MyMemories. In order to download them you have to sign up for a free account.

If you are interested in this software then luckily for you I am giving away 1 free copy of the MyMemories  software and the great thing is you will be getting the newest version. All you have to do is use the rafflecopter widget below to enter. The giveaway is open to anyone. The only mandatory entry is leaving me a blog comment. However, because I like lot of entries you can get an extra entries for: checking out MyMemories and sharing your favorite kit, following me in anyway, following me on gfc (that is why we are doing this giveaway after all), tweet, or share the giveaway in any way. I will announce  and email the winner on Nov 28 and that person will have 72 hours to get back to me or I will have to pick a new winner.

And since only one person can win the free MyMemories software I have an additional special offer for any of my readers by using  my memories code - STMMMS63393 you will get ten dollars off the software and $10 gift certificate to the online store. And yes that is off the newest version that was just announced today :)

Now, just to be clear here, this is a sponsored giveaway, but the opinions are my own and I wouldn't share if I didn't enjoy the product.

PS. Don't forget that if you are follower you can enter the fabric giveaway also.

PS: I got my good to go email for the other giveaway, like 15 minutes after posting this and now it is up. MyMemories giveaway

Its Friday and my break is almost over.

I don't know about all of you, but I think my biggest finish this week was Thanksgiving dinner.

Of course we had turkey

But there was also lots more like bread

and cranberry sauce

and pumpkin cheesecake

and a whole bunch more that I forgot to get pictures of. Basically, I looked back at the spread being the second to last one to get my plate and thought. Huh it would have been nice to take pictures. Oh wells!

As for sewing finishes I did finish a Christmas Stocking

Christmas Stocking for hopeful threads

I am really proud of the back details on this stocking. I did some free motion snowflakes. I traced them and they quilted it. I kept telling myself, snowflakes are all different so it is ok if they aren't perfect.

This will go to Hopeful Threads Stocking Drive for children's hospitals.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I had a very productive week off so far. Other than getting ready for thanksgiving I was able to spend some time in my sewing room. I cleaned out half of my sewing room. The other half will get picked up once I am done cutting some projects.

I have finish my 4x5 bee blocks, which will hopefully go in the mail today.

4 x 5 Modern Quilt Bee Blocks

I also made my bubble block for the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild.

Bubble Block

And I started a Christmas stocking using Merry by Thimble Blossoms as the pattern (that I won from  Hopeful Threads when I agreed to make one for her cause). OK so I switched it up a bit and quilted as you go for the front, but it is still her stocking shape and it is almost done :) I just have to sew the front and back together and add the cuff.

I am making this for

 stocking button

Kristy of Hopeful Threads and Dona of Sewing Miles of Smiles are doing a stocking drive for children's hospitals.  Each month Hopeful Threads select a project to spread cheer to this in need. This month it is the stockings.

Other than that I decided to join the
Sew Sweetness

I have never made a garment by myself before. Sure I have helped my mom many a times as a kid and a teen, I even helped when my mom came up to help my neice make her halloween costume. However, never by myself with out someone to go over the pattern with me. So this is going to be interesting. Luckily at Sew Sweetness she is having lots of other people share tips along the way. I already have the pattern and have printed the pieces. I am going to order my fabric soon, but since this is my first garment I am going to make a muslin.
